Getting Started

How do I create an account?

On the login screen, enter your email and create a password (minimum 6 characters), then tap Sign In. If it's your first time, your account is created automatically.

You can also sign in with Google or Apple for a faster setup without needing to create a password.

Can I use the app without creating an account?

Yes! The app works fully in offline mode without an account. Your transactions and categories are saved locally on your iPhone.

An account is only required to sync data across devices, back up to the cloud, and use the AI receipt scanner.

How does offline mode work?

In offline mode, all your data (transactions, categories, settings) is stored directly on your iPhone. The app works without internet for adding transactions, viewing reports, and managing categories.

If you create an account later, your local data is automatically synced to the cloud.

How do I change the app language?

The app automatically detects the language set on your iPhone. To change it, go to iPhone Settings โ†’ General โ†’ Language & Region and select your preferred language.

The app supports Portuguese (Brazil), English, and Spanish.

Account & Subscription

How do I subscribe to Controla Gastos AI Premium?

Inside the app, go to the Subscription screen (available in Settings or highlighted on the home screen). Choose the monthly or annual plan and confirm the purchase with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password.

Payment is processed securely by the Apple App Store.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed directly by Apple. To cancel:

  • Open iPhone Settings โ†’ tap your name
  • Go to Subscriptions
  • Select Controla Gastos AI and tap Cancel Subscription

Premium access continues until the end of the already paid period.

How do I restore my purchases on a new iPhone?

Install the app on your new iPhone, sign in with the same account (Apple ID or email), and tap Restore Purchases on the subscription screen. Premium will be reactivated automatically at no extra charge.

What is the price of Premium?

Prices are displayed directly in the app in your local currency, as set by Apple for your region. The app offers monthly and annual plans (with a discount).

Does the app work on Android?

Currently Controla Gastos AI is available exclusively for iPhone (iOS). An Android version is in our future plans. Send an email to suporte@controlagastos.app to be notified when we launch.

AI Receipt Scanning

How does the receipt scanner work?

On the Add Transaction screen, tap the "Scan receipt with AI" button. Take a photo of the receipt and our AI automatically extracts the amount, description, and suggests a category.

You can review and edit all fields before saving.

Which types of receipts are supported?

The scanner works best with printed receipts from:

  • Restaurants and cafes
  • Supermarkets and pharmacies
  • Gas stations
  • Retail stores in general

For best results, photograph the receipt in good lighting, straight on, with the entire area visible.

The AI filled in the wrong data. What should I do?

The AI may occasionally get the amount or category wrong. Simply correct the fields manually before saving โ€” the extracted data is always a suggestion and is never saved without your confirmation.

If errors are frequent, try photographing the receipt with better lighting and closer up.

Is there a daily scan limit?

Yes, there is a technical limit to ensure service quality for all users. If you reach the daily limit, you can add the transaction manually and try the scanner again the next day.

Do I need an account to use the scanner?

Yes, the AI receipt scanner requires an active account. Create a free account on the login screen to access this feature.

Sync & Data

How do I sync my data across devices?

Sign in with the same account (email and password, Google, or Apple) on all your iPhones. Data syncs automatically in real time whenever there is an internet connection.

What happens if I delete the app?

With an account: your data stays saved in the cloud. Just reinstall the app and sign in with the same account to recover everything.

Without an account (offline mode): data is stored only on the iPhone. Deleting the app removes the data permanently.

We recommend creating a free account to protect your data.

How do I export my data?

Data export is available in the app's Settings. You can export your transactions in CSV format for use in spreadsheets like Excel or Google Sheets.

How do I delete my account and all my data?

In the app's Settings, scroll to the bottom and tap "Erase cloud data" or "Delete account". All your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

You can also request deletion by emailing privacidade@controlagastos.app.

Privacy & Security

What data does the app collect?

We collect only what is necessary for the app to work:

  • Email โ€” for authentication
  • Financial transactions โ€” added by you
  • Receipt images โ€” temporarily processed by AI, never stored
  • Subscription status โ€” via RevenueCat

We do not collect location, contacts, microphone, or advertising identifiers.

Does the app access my bank account?

No. Controla Gastos AI is a manual transaction entry app. You add amounts yourself (or via receipt scanner). The app does not connect to banks, does not access statements, and never requests banking credentials or financial passwords.

Is my financial data encrypted?

Yes. All data is protected by:

  • TLS/HTTPS in transit
  • Encryption at rest in the database (Supabase)
  • Row Level Security โ€” each user can only access their own data

Troubleshooting

The app is slow or crashing. What should I do?
  • Fully close the app and reopen it (swipe up in the app switcher)
  • Restart your iPhone
  • Check for available updates in the App Store
  • If the problem persists, delete and reinstall the app (your cloud data is preserved)

If nothing works, email us describing the issue: suporte@controlagastos.app

The magic link email hasn't arrived.
  • Check your spam/junk mail folder
  • Make sure you typed your email correctly
  • Wait up to 5 minutes โ€” sometimes there is a delivery delay
  • Try using password login instead of the magic link

I made a purchase but Premium wasn't activated.

This can happen due to temporary instability. Try:

  • On the subscription screen, tap "Restore Purchases"
  • Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the purchase
  • Wait a few minutes and close/reopen the app

If the problem persists after 24 hours, send your purchase receipt to suporte@controlagastos.app.

How do I reset my password?

On the login screen, tap "Forgot my password". Enter your email and we'll send a link to create a new password.

Also check your spam folder if the email doesn't appear within a few minutes.

Budget alert notifications are not showing up.
  • Go to iPhone Settings โ†’ Notifications โ†’ Controla Gastos AI and verify they are enabled
  • In the app, go to Settings and confirm that alerts are turned on
  • Make sure your iPhone is not in Do Not Disturb or Focus mode
